Adoption Update: Emma, now Ezra

At around nine years old, Emma was living with her sister Sadie before their owner could no longer afford to take care of them. It was clear once they arrived at the Sanctuary that the two girls weren’t very bonded at all! These two princesses were clear they wanted their own space and love! Once in their separate rooms, both kitties calmed significantly and started to blossom. Emma was a little bit shy, but warmed up quickly to new friends at the Sanctuary. This sweet, kind girl loved to snuggle up with people on the couch, flop over on your feet, and occasionally chase after crinkly balls. Emma loved having the attention all to herself and appreciated the relaxed atmosphere of the Sanctuary!

Once ready for adoption, we knew she needed a quiet, calm home, as an only pet, where she didn’t have to share the love and could have all the cuddles to herself! When her adopter first submitted an application, it was actually for another cat at the Sanctuary. Still, the goal of our adoption process is to know the applicant, their lifestyle, and their interests and use that information to then play a “match-making service” to determine which cats might be a perfect match. When getting to know her adopter, we learned he broke his back at 26 that left him confined to a wheelchair. He not only was fully capable of taking care of a cat, but had a wonderful support system that lived close by. He was looking for companion that was kind and calm who he could love and cherish as his one and only. We immediately thought of Emma as a perfect match with her mellow and sweet personality. Upon mentioning Emma and coming to meet her, her adopter immediately fell in love and thought she was quite beautiful! He changed her name to Ezra and they were officially family in a lovely home.

Over the last two years, Ezra has truly flourished and appreciated her dad’s nurturing and caring home. In return, Ezra started to slowly show more of her personality. She was absolutely adored and received plenty of chin scratches and cuddles! Her dad loved learning more and more about her and appreciating all her quirks! Ezra proved she was a very intelligent cat and had many in-depth “conversations” with her family! We even received an adorable video of Ezra enjoying some cat grass! You can just tell she’s so happy and so loved! We’re so glad we were able to match these two together and they love each other so much! We wish them plenty of more snuggles and “talks” to come!
