At Our Companions, we have a few guidelines that new volunteers must follow. There is also a specific policy for children.

New volunteers at Our Companions must complete a one-hour orientation session before becoming involved in any program.

Just for Kids

We enjoy having the opportunity to involve young people in our programs. Minors ages 10 -17 may volunteer as Sanctuary cat caregivers; ages 13-17 with our Canine College program; and ages 15-17 as Sanctuary dog caregivers.Volunteers in these age groups must have a parent or guardian actively volunteering along with them and can volunteer during designated shifts, one adult per child.

Young people under the age of 10, unfortunately, will not be able to volunteer but are encouraged to participate in supportive activities. You will find different ways in which you can get involved. Each step-by-step activity is designed for young adults or groups of young adults. Whether it is raising money for our organization’s programs or collecting food for feral cats, your efforts will go directly towards saving the lives of precious animals.
