Tiger Tebow is full of love!

In December 2025, local Animal Control was called to trap multiple cats left in the home after their pet guardian sadly passed away. The pet guardian had several cats at the time, and some were adopted from the municipal shelter. Animal Control was unable to find any vet records, so nothing was known about the health of the cats, their age, vaccination history, any medical conditions or special needs, etc. Two friendly, people-loving cats remained at the municipal shelter after a few months, which is when they reached out to us, desperate for help. The officers loved the cats, and the cats were wonderful with people but perhaps their age was holding them back from adoption. An Animal Control municipal shelter is no place for friendly, adoptable cats to be living for long, and they were also taking up space as Animal Control was concurrently dealing with cruelty cases and injured animals. We welcomed Tebow (tabby) and Bandit (all black)to the Sanctuary in March 2026. Even at the municipal shelter, Bandit seemed to like the company of Tebow, but Tebow was not too interested with having a friendship with Bandit so we gave them separate rooms to decompress and settle into Sanctuary life.

Tebow was a bit overweight but appeared healthy. Due to funding and capacity restraints with the municipal shelter, Tebow did not receive any additional vetting. Since Bandit was overweight and excessively drinking, the municipal shelter tested him for diabetes. Thankfully, his tests were in range and both boys started a diet. They were left alone in the apartment for a few months with a neighbor going into feed them so they may have been left large amounts of food at the time. Both are very sweet, vocal and love pets and company. They have been super social from the start, and we hope they don’t stay with us long, although they have quickly become a volunteer favorite! Both boys recently had dentals and are already feeling much better. Stay tuned as they should be available soon!

Planning for your pets in the event of an emergency, illness, or death is so important. Keep vet records somewhere obvious, leave emergency information in visible areas for first responders such as on your refrigerator, and keep info and vetting up to date.
