Latte
Our staff were surprised one morning to find three young cats in a cage left outside on our Sanctuary’s property. It was quite tricky finding space unexpectedly, but our Sanctuary staff were quick on their feet to make sure these three were safe and sound. The unneutered boys were named Dunkin, Chai and Latte. Thankfully, it was a vet day at the Sanctuary and they were all examined and vetted that same day. They’re all three estimated to be around a year old in July of 2024. At first the boys all shared a room together, however, as they became more comfortable at our Sanctuary, the three boys started to have conflict amongst each other. Therefore, they were separated in different rooms and have been doing much better with their own space.
While we were searching for a home for Latte, he suddenly stopped eating and became very lethargic. After a number of tests came back inconclusive, we moved forward with explorative surgery to ensure there wasn’t an obstruction. Thankfully there was no obstruction, but the surgeon did find that his intestines were thickened and took a biopsy to do further tests. The vets eventually diagnosed him with IBD, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and we took him down from adoption to figure out a diet plan that helped support him with this condition. Ultimately the goal is to minimize inflammation, therefore we started him on an elimination diet and slowly introduced particular proteins to learn more about what food worked well with his digestive system. After several months of trial diets, our determined Cat Team has found a great non-prescription diet that works best for Latte!
He’s been stable, happy, and his playful self for many months, therefore we have started his adoption search again to help this lovable boy find his furever family!
