Sanctuary Birthday 2021

After being unable to celebrate in person last year, we kept our fingers crossed this year for our annual Sanctuary Birthday Party. Every year our entire OC community is able to get together at the pavilion to reminisce on another year of helping and caring for the special animals that come to our Sanctuary in need of love and rehabilitation. It’s a time we can collectively thank our entire community for their incredible dedication and commitment to our animals and organization. After keeping a watchful eye on the local and state mandates, we were extremely grateful to learn that this year we were able to thank everyone in person!

Adorned with fall and Halloween décor, our Sanctuary Birthday Party is always filled with goodies, treats, games, and great fun! Thanks to Sanctuary Feline Volunteer Manager, Lindsey, for serving all of our guests yummy vegan food, and handing out our traditional vegan cupcakes with pictures of our past and current Sanctuary guests! Our lovely artistic party goers were also able to paint pumpkins and create chalk drawings all over the pavilion.

We had a couple changes this year to our Sanctuary Birthday Party than previous years. Given that we were unable to have a memorial ceremony in person due to Covid for our guests that have passed with us, we had a small table of their pictures and notecards. People could write memories, messages, and more for those special animals that are no longer with us. We even changed up our classic “Guess Who” game! Usually every year we have pictures of our Sanctuary animals around the pavilion and everyone has to guess their names, conversing with Sanctuary cat and dog volunteers to get all the names right! Yet this year, the winner of the game would be able to name the next Sanctuary guest!

Of course it wouldn’t be a true Sanctuary Birthday Party without some four-legged friends! Susan Linker’s sidekick, Jason, made sure to make his rounds! We had Sanctuary senior sweeties Kiwi and Daisy also come and say hello to their friends, both old and new. Even adopted Sanctuary guest, Teddy, now Kismet, also made a surprise appearance!

After such a crazy, unpredictable year, we were so appreciative we could get together and enjoy the company of friends, family, and companions. We hope everyone had a great time and we look forward to another year full of love and compassion with our furry friends!

So glad you were able to hold this very special event! Looks like a good time was had by canines and humans.
