Elvis
Two domestic rabbits been sitting in a municipal shelter for months when Animal Control reached out to Our Companions for help. They were found as abandoned strays, but many municipal shelters are not set up to house rabbits. We knew it was urgent to get them both into a better environment for bunnies. When a rabbit room became available, welcomed the two, labeled “24-26785” and “24-21750”, to our Sanctuary in December 2024. We reached out to our community on social media to help us with one of the most important parts – giving them names instead of labels! Thanks to the help of our followers, we named “24-26785” Elvis and “24-21750” Hunny. They were surrendered together but had been kept separated since they were not yet neutered and spayed. We were not sure if they may bond together as a pair and continued to separate them until they could get their alter surgeries. After they had spay and neuter surgeries, we facilitates a few supervised bunny dates with Elvis and Hunny but they didn’t seem to be a good pair together – but seem to love human attention at the least! We will continue to get to know their personalities and see if they can find some bunny friends with us, are happy to stay single buns, or perhaps be adopted to a home with another rabbit to bond with.
Elvis, formerly known as “24-26785”, is a Lionhead Rabbit with gorgeous long white and black fur. While in our care, Elvis was neutered, vaccinated, and has a clean bill of health. Elvis has been friendly and affectionate with us since day one! He loves the attention from anyone who visits with him. He also enjoys his free roam time and running laps in the empty hallways. So far, he would rather snuggle up with humans than hang out with other bunnies, but he might have a match out there for him! He is currently sharing a room with two 6-month-old Lionhead rabbits. We will continue to enjoy his affection and get to know his personality to ensure a happy forever home.
