Sophie

Sophie is a female Black Syrian Hamster that comes to us from a hamster rescue in Maine. The rescue heard about our grand opening of Suzanne’s Place, our first small animal cottage, and contacted us seeking assistance with placing seven hamsters. We welcomed a group of eight hamsters from the rescue in July of 2024, when Sophie was about five months old.

During her time with us, we learned Sophie is quite the burrowing queen! She loves to burrow in her habitat, and enjoys digging her in sand baths as well! She’s quite social, will happily be picked up and loves walking around your lap. Free roam time is very important to Sophie since she’s quite an explorer! She also appreciates the calm, quiet atmosphere at our Sanctuary.
