A sweet creamsicle cat was found as a stray living amongst a community cat colony over the winter. Community cat colonies are managed through Trap-Neuter-Return programs as true community cats* do not want to be indoors nor socializing with us humans. BUT – Scooter was clearly an abandoned cat, not one who was living outdoors his whole life since he was social, friendly, and would meow!
Scooter was rescued by a Good Samaritan, taken to a vet for a check up and vaccinations, and brought into her home. Unfortunately, her other cat was not accepting the new friend so she began reaching out to rescues for help. Unable to find a space for Scooter, we started obtaining vet records and assistance request forms to enter him into our re-homing program until a space or new home was found. Luckily, Scooter’s need for a room paired with a string of adoptions and we were able to welcome him to the Sanctuary in January 2026! He was around 3.5 years old at the time. He is still settling in but already making biscuits and friends with volunteers! Welcome to the inside life, buddy! We can’t wait to find him his real forever home next.
*What is a community cat? Community cats are unowned, outdoor cats that can range from social strays to undomesticated, wild cats. You can help these kitties by donating unopened, unexpired dry cat food where they’ll have full bellies and full hearts during their life outside.
Our Program Center is open Tues-Fri from 9AM-2PM in Manchester, CT. Or contact us at 860-242-9999 or [email protected] to donate outside those hours or to learn other ways to help!
