Nosework 

Nosework is an excellent confidence building activity for dogs. In this 4- week Nosework Class you will learn to teach your dog the basics of scent detection. Using positive reinforcement and carefully timed and delivered treats we will work on training your dog to alert when a scent is found. You will work with your dog to find the scent and eventually empower your dog to work alone. We will be using a lot of capturing and shaping and strive for enthusiastic participation. There will be significant downtime in this class for the dogs while the humans are listening to instructions.

If your dog prefers to be working consistently while in class, or does not settle on their own, please bring plenty for them to occupy themselves with alone so that you can take your focus off of them for long enough to learn the next step. Stuffed kongs (no peanut butter), bully sticks, and snuffle mats or towels rolled up with treats inside are all great long lasting quiet activity choices for doggy downtime.
