Featured Pet: Posy

A lovely couple adopted a pair of kittens from a rescue and welcomed them home. After a few years, issues between her feline sibling started to occur and unfortunately their bond started to deteriorate. However, they still were able to learn how to cohabitate and share their people and home together. Later on, the couple decided to expand their family and welcomed a child to the home. Though the child loved Posy, Posy didn’t feel the same way and had a difficult time adjusting to this big change in her home. Posy had always been a sensitive girl, appreciating a more quiet, consistent home environment. As the baby grew to walking age, it became more challenging to manage both the baby and Posy’s needs. The couple made the very difficult decision to rehome Posy, in the hopes of finding her a home where she could thrive and be happy.

Posy arrived to our Sanctuary in June of 2024 at the age of 7 years old. Knowing that this would be a big change for her, our staff made sure she had lots of comfortable hiding places to decompress and feel safe in her new environment. Thankfully, her family relayed lots of information on Posy’s personality, likes and dislikes, so we were already aware of what would make Posy a happy girl! Also, Posy was previously diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus and now takes medication twice a day. Her diabetes is very easily managed with her medication and her health has been consistent ever since.

Posy appreciated the calm atmosphere at the Sanctuary, and her new friends that were patient and sweet to her. Like a true princess, she loves being brushed and adored, and told how absolutely gorgeous she is! Which was easy for her friends to do! If you hold out the brush, she’ll even just brush herself in all the right places that she likes! She does enjoy playing every so often, but Posy wants nothing more than to lay on your lap! As soon as you sit down, Posy will slowly come over to check out her “throne” and will happily curl up on your lap for a nap! She truly appreciates the company of her small group of friends, and her friends feel so grateful to have earned Posy’s trust and love. She’ll meow in excitement as soon as she sees her friends enter her room, knowing she’ll get her lap time and their love! The only hard part is trying to get Posy out of your lap, which is why her friends will keep cookies handy to coax her off! That’s just how much she loves her lap time!

Given Posy’s previous home, an adult home would be perfect for her! Posy can be a nervous cat and sensitive to noises, therefore a quiet, calm home with someone patient would truly help her thrive and her personality will flourish! We can imagine in a home of her very own, her nervous nature might diminish as she feels more comfortable with her person and her home. Earning her trust and building a bond with Posy can be a very rewarding experience! She’s such a beautiful, gentle girl and we hope to find someone that can continue letting her light shine! In return, Posy will be your best friend and purrrfect companion. She’s a happy girl just being on your lap, knowing she’s safe and loved!
