Background Story:

In February 2026, we welcomed a pair of unconventional friends to the Sanctuary named Papa and Mousey. Papa is a delicious butterscotch colored bunny while Mousey is a darling (you guessed it…!!) house mouse! Although the pair was not bonded nor did they live in the same habitat, they did come from the same loving home! Their pet guardian reached out to us when she could no longer give them both the time and attention they deserved. Leaning especially on Papa’s need for quiet cuddles and people time, she decided to re-home both boys to a more attentive environment.

Papa is microchipped, neutered, and was born in January 2025. Obviously well cared for and socialized with, Papa settled into this new space at the Sanctuary quite well! He has been charming everyone he meets with his kind and gentle nature. Papa gives us an A+ for building special bunny windows in our small animal cottage as the window beds and thick sills have become a favorite hang out space. His first couple of days he refused to move from the window seat but was also not eating much at first. Staff and volunteers spent a lot of time with him these last few weeks comforting him through this big transition. Now he’s eating super well, running to the door to greet us every morning, hopping around the halls and being the vibrant little bunny he’s meant to be! Next stop, a forever home!

Adoption Info:

Papa is a sweet, quirky, adorable and affectionate pet rabbit. He is a gorgeous bunny who loves to run, play, and do zoomies. Papa is a very curious boy who loves to explore his area. Things that make him happy are nibbling on his hay, relaxing after a hard day of play, and checking things out – he loves to look out the window on his fluffy perch bed! Papa likes chew toys, hay-based toys, and anything to toss or nudge around. He particularly LOVES hidey boxes! He is a gentle companion who loves sharing space with gentle people and calmer environments. Papa would thrive best in a quiet, stable, and safe indoor-only space to roam. He needs gentle people who understand rabbit behavior and can provide a consistent routine.
