Background Story:

As a young kitten, Noelle was found in Manchester caught in a leg trap and was able to drag herself to a nearby home where she had unfortunately fell into a window well. The homeowner called local animal control where Noelle was picked up and quickly brought to the nearby vet hospital for urgent medical attention. It was clear that the damages done to the trapped leg was far too severe and now needed to be amputated. OC was contacted by local animal control for assistance with this costly surgery and we were able to provide support through our Veterinary Assistance Program. While under anesthesia, Noelle was also spayed.

Once surgery was complete and she was ready to get discharged, we welcomed Noelle to our Sanctuary in November of 2024 to give her the care she needed to heal and rehabilitate. She was estimated to be around 8 months at the time of her arrival and we assumed she hadn’t experienced much socialization with people in her life. Not only was Noelle healing from a traumatic event where she lost her leg, but she also found herself in an unfamiliar world with unfamiliar people. Thankfully, our staff are well-equipped to care for special needs kitties like Noelle to give them the patience and diligence needed for her physical and mental healing.

Noelle has now fully recovered from her amputation and has been getting more and more comfortable being mobile and exploring her room. Staff will put calming music in the room to help soothe her, as well as utilize playtime and clicker training to help her bond with people. Staff are already seeing such great progress with her getting more comfortable and confident interacting with people. We’re just so grateful she’s safe in our care, adapting well, and enjoying her time with us! We look forward to continuing to care for Noelle to help her be happy and thrive!

Adoption Info:

Noelle is an affectionate, playful 1-year-old whose sweet nature shines! Despite losing her leg (after being caught in a foothold trap) and being quite frightened initially, she has made incredible progress—both in building trusting relationships with her human friends and in physically adapting to her new challenge. One way to win her heart is through brushing, which she adores. She also loves interactive play with her mouse and bird toys, catnip, and treats! Noelle can be cautious and would appreciate a calm, quiet adult home. She may also enjoy the company of a laid-back kitty friend. With patience, time, and space to continue gaining confidence, she’ll show what a fun and sweet companion she truly is!
