Scout was initially found as a stray by local Animal Control and was in need of emergency veterinary treatment when they found him- his ears were infected, and he had a wound on the side of his face that also needed medical care. After treatment, he was welcomed to our Sanctuary for continuous medical care and training. Scout’s exact age is unknown, at first he was thought to be over 10 years old, and his name at the shelter was “Old Man”. Now as he’s been with us, he’s looking to be younger, and estimated to be much younger once he received much needed TLC and medical care. He started as a senior dog and seemed to age backwards, maybe more like 6 years old when he came to us in 2021.
Due to continuous ear infections, potentially from the healed wound on his face, Scout underwent surgery to completely remove the ear canal of his right ear. Now that he is healed from surgery, he no longer experiences chronic ear infections! However, as soon as we posted him up for adoption, poor Scout injured his ACL and needed surgery. We temporarily paused his adoptable status as he underwent surgery and went through extensive rehabilitation to get back on his paws! We’re so grateful for our staff and volunteers that provided lots of TLC for Scout to make a full recovery! Now nothing is holding back this cuddly cutie to start his search for a home and a family of his very own!
