Background Story:

Syrian Hamsters are sometimes called Golden Hamsters but they really come in all different colors and fur types! They grow about 6 inches and live in singular habitats. Darling, adorable, and can certainly bond with their people – or just live a sweet and entertaining life with you in your home!

Flamingo DOB: March 23, 2025

It’s hard to believe the luck, but a good citizen found two pet Syrian hamsters abandoned in a bin in the woods. She took them in and separated them right away, but they must have lived together in their previous home because a few weeks later the family discovered the female had given birth! Thankfully, she was rescued just in time to have her babies in a safe, warm home. The heroic family already planned to keep mom and dad (in separate habitats of course) and found homes for some of the babies. When they were having a hard time placing the remaining babies, they reached out to us for help. We now have five adorable critters, named Pigeon, Moose, Flamingo, Duck and Frog! No ‘bins in the woods’ for these guys – their next stop is a home of their own!

Now, all the zoo animal Syrian Hamsters found homes except for sweet Flamingo.

Flamingo was surrendered with her 4 siblings. Flamingo and her siblings were born at the end of March 2025. Old enough to live separately now, they each seem to be loving their new habitats – burrowing to their hearts content. Flamingo is a female Syrian hamster that looks like a panda! She has a banded fur pattern, with a dark coat and bright white band!

The Baby Hammies: DOB December 15, 2025

Another pet store oops! A woman adopted a hamster at a pet store and had quite the surprise when the hamster had six babies! Since hamsters can be territorial, they need their own habitats, and a total of 7 hamsters was a lot to handle.

She contacted OC for assistance, and we were happy to open our doors to this lovely litter. These babies came to us at only a month old and are loving their individualized habitats. Our staff are slowly socializing with them at their own pace, but one thing is for sure- they are so cute! We can’t wait to learn more about each of their personalities, and making sure they feel loved and safe during their time with us! They are a variety of blondes, browns, and classic gold. Some have longer fur too – all unique and all adorable.

Adoption Info:

Syrian hamsters are often called Golden hamsters, but we see all different colors, patterns, and even fur lengths! They are beautifully unique! Some have long puffy fur, others with black and white spots, and all with their own lovely personalities. Being able to bond with a small companion like a hamster can really be rewarding too. They are nocturnal pets but can adjust to evening socializing and early coffee dates to start your day. Hamsters are solitary and live in single habitats.
