Join us on Thursday, August 27th for our Second Annual Red Cross Blood Drive in honor of Marie Joyner! Places from across the country depend on this life-saving blood to survive. This supply can directly affect those in need of transfusions, surgery, cancer treatments, or even trauma victims. The blood drive will be held at our Valerie Friedman Program Center from 8AM to 6PM.
The event will have extended hours to limit the number of appointments at a given time. Other precautions will be put in place to keep everyone safe from Covid-19. The American Red Cross has put together a document to discuss the many ways they’re taking precaution, which you can read here.
During the blood drive, they will also be testing for Covid-19 antibodies to help provide donors insight into whether they may have been exposed to the virus. You can read more about the antibody testing here.
It’s important that if you are feeling unwell, that you stay home and postpone your donation. Everyone is required to wear a face mask or covering, as well as required to wash their hands or sanitize upon arrival of their appointment.
