Background Story:
Roborovski Hamsters, also called Robo Hamsters, are one of the smallest species of ‘hammies’! They are a dwarf species, smaller than a ping-pong ball as they nestle in your palm. They will grow 2-4 inches long while Syrian Hamsters will grow 6 inches. They are also known to be incredibly fast – and very entertaining on their wheels and running through their habitat! With those little bodies and big, bright faces, how could you get any cuter?!
Our Last Robo! Pandora DOB: November 17, 2024
In October 2024, a couple adopted a hamster from a pet store chain. They purposefully adopted a male but received quite the surprise when their hamster gave birth to 4 babies! The pet store did not sex their hamsters correctly which lead to a surprise pregnancy and new pet guardians scrambling to figure out how to care for all these extra hammies! They were living in the same habitat that could lead to another accidental litter but also fighting between the hamsters since they are solitary, territorial animals by nature. The couple was not receiving help or support from the store nor family and decided to reach out to hamster rescues for help. Luckily we had space to offer mom and babies.
Pandora is a tan and white dwarf hamster who was born November 2024. She has not displayed any signs of illness and had a good vet check up in 2025. Even nocturnal, Pandora has been known to nuzzle in your palm, run on your hands, and impress you with her wheel action! Now over 1 year old, Pandora is kind of a senior hamster in need of a forever home!!
Adoption Info:
Pandora was gifted traits from multiple Greek gods - giving her the name of "All-giving". Our Pandora was raised by her hamster mommy we call Hera, learned to trust with our Small Animal staff and volunteers, and learned to love with the help of her favorite walnut treats! Born November 2024, our little Pandora is looking for a home of her own. Being a dwarf hamster, called a Roborovski hamster, she's smaller than a ping pong ball when safely held in the palm of your hand. Pandora, her mom, and her sisters are available for adoption with Our Companions Animal Rescue. Hamsters are solitary and live in single habitats.
