Pawsitive Thinking Volunteer Workshop

Our Companions held their very first volunteer community workshop of 2020! Titled “Pawsitive Thinking: Revitalize Your New Year”, the workshop was an opportunity for volunteers across the organization to gather together, relax, and have fun!

The event started off with an Introduction to Mindfulness with veterinarian and mindfulness practitioner, Deidre Galbo. This specific mindful practice is geared toward animal caregivers to help aid in the great challenges we face in animal care. This type of mindfulness help us help ourselves first, so we can in turn help others.

The next part of the workshop was an Essential Oils discussion led by our very own Helpline volunteer, Chris Huppe, who is a certified holistic nurse. She shared her expertise on the use of therapeutic grade essential oils to improve health, as well as help with symptoms of illness, in both humans and their pets.

The last part of the event was a Beginner Yoga Class! Mindy Perry, Licensed Massage Therapist, yoga instructor, and animal lover, demonstrated key poses to help relax, strengthen, and relieve tension in your muscles.

Our Companions is extremely grateful for all the time and hard work our volunteers dedicate to these animals in need. We hope everyone had a lot of fun! Thank you so much for attending this great event and we look forward to holding more in the future!
