About 13 years old, Mikey was diagnosed with diabetes in the summer of last year. His family was encountering some difficult circumstances and were not properly able to focus on his needs and care. No longer able to care for him they decided to move forward with rehoming him. Faced with rapidly declining health issues we accepted Mikey to the Sanctuary in an attempt to stabilize him and give him a good quality of life.
Results from his most recent vet visit were looking ok but not good. Mikey was diagnosed with Pancreatitis and regulating his diabetes is going to be more difficult. He continues on his daily Insulin while we give his body time to adjust. He is still not feeling great but some of his more relaxed personality is coming out and he is spending some time relaxing and even playing with his visitors.
