Love, Love, Love

February is now behind us, and we are in the home stretch of getting through this winter.  As a way to boost my own optimism, I’ve even started planning our grounds-keeping and gardening projects for this spring and winter.  But before I get too far ahead of myself, let’s look back at a great month here at the Sanctuary; a month full of fun, hard work, and, very appropriately, lots of love.

I’d like to start off by sending out some big love to our volunteers and supporters.  We had our Secret Admirer Amazon Wish List promotion this month.  Each of our dogs and cats requested an item they needed for their health, their care, or just for fun, and made an Amazon Wish List that we sent out to all our supporters to fulfill their hearts’ desires.  I have to say, once again, you all went above and beyond in your generosity for the critters here.  Everybody got their wish granted and then some.  Here’s Zuzu with her new hurdles that she’ll be using to get back in shape after her knee surgery.

And here’s Cosmo with his heated bed as a warm snuggle spot next to me as I work.

As well, everyone here at Our Companions wants to send our love to our own Ariana.  Ariana has been part of the staff here with both the dogs and cats since June of 2016.  Her expertise and dedication have been invaluable as we’ve expanded and progressed over that time.  However, Ariana is going to be starting a family of her own and will be moving to New Hampshire as part of that journey.  We will not only miss her skill and dedication, but her intrepid, calm, and positive attitude.  Good luck, Ariana!

And lastly, we’ll cover what we love the most:  the furry comings and goings here at the sanctuary!

We had two cats go home this month, and they were big news.  Marty and Lucas, two long timers who needed lots of help when they came here, have found their forever homes in February.  Marty came to us from Bolton Vet after suffering a major pelvis injury, possibly from being hit by a car.  It quite a bit of work and physical therapy, but we were able to get this handsome boy in shape for going home.  Lucas came to us with some bad behavioral habits and a bit of a weight problem.  He was also quite the project, but soon became a staff and volunteer favorite.

Arriving in the dogs this month was the three-legged wonder Dobby.  And in the cats, we saw the arrival of Clove.

So, as we look ahead to March and an eventual spring, I’d like to thank you all for your support of Our Companions and for sharing in the love!
