Background Story:
Sweet as can be, this 13-year-old kitty is named Kiwi!
Estimated to be born in 2013, Kiwi had lived with her pet guardian since she was 5 months old. Unfortunately, her guardian recently passed away leaving Kiwi with nowhere to go. The homes of family members had resident pets that would not get along with shy natured and nervous, Kiwi, so the family reach out to Our Companions for help. Kiwi presents as shy, but we hear she was very affectionate with her guardian.
Kiwi received a little “lion cut” to remove some of her matted fur. She was not a fan of being brushed and needs a little help with grooming herself. Luckily, we have a few tricks up our sleeve with our Cooperative Care training to help ease her into brushing care. Kiwi does not have a tail but she has been that way since her guardian adopted her as a kitten. She is still settling in but is already being so brave with her new environment and routine. So far, we have found she love Churu treats, freeze dried chicken, and has been more affectionate with staff and volunteers alike. Now her fur has grown back in fluffy splendor and our brush training techniques are paying off as she lets us brush most of her body now. We are happy to continue to get to know her and all her princess preferences!
