Kasey
Kasey came to us when her pet guardian was no longer able to care for her due to personal health concerns. Estimated to be around 9-11 years old when she came to the Sanctuary, this beautiful but nervous tabby is historically described as being very shy and fearful, especially of new circumstance (like moving to a new home without “mom”!) Kasey hid for a very long time in her previous home and would only come out at night. Knowing this, her previous guardian also knew she would not get adopted out from a traditional shelter.
Given her recent upheaval, we can imagine this big change in her environment and routine will be a big hurdle for Kasey, but our team are fully prepared to make sure Kasey feels safe, loved, and well-cared for during her time with us. Our team is accustomed to shy, fearful cats and are ready to meet any cat where they are. With a cat like Kasey, that can often look like means minimal interaction to express we will respect her boundaries, going in for short visits to feed and clean, and not pushing any playtime or pets until she gives us more cues in comfortability. After a few weeks of quiet activities, she’s starting to show her sweet and curious side to her dedicated staff members with head butts and purrs! No matter where the road takes us, nor how long that road may be, we are happy to have Kasey safe and sound – and making friends already!
