GeeBee

GeeBee the cat is part creamsicle, part cartoon character, and a lot of “good boy” mixed in too! GeeBee was found as a friendly stray and taken in by a kind hearted student. After taking him to get examined by a vet, she found out GeeBee was FIV positive along with ear issues and ear infections due to his floppy left ear. She also had a resident cat who did not get along with GeeBee so there was a lot of management needed in the home to keep the environment harmonious for the two cats while being able to attend to GeeBee’s health and ear infections. Due to the other cat in the home and the ongoing medical needs, GeeBee became a part of our Re-Homing Program earlier in 2024.

As time went on, veterinary professionals felt it was in GeeBee’s best interest to have a surgery to remove his ear canal, called TECA surgery, since it was clear chronic ear infections would be a significant part of his life without the surgery. There were some concerns around his FIV status and undergoing surgery so we reached out for a few different professional opinions on surgical options. In November 2024, GeeBee was welcomed to be a guest at our Sanctuary so we could assist in getting him the surgery and tending to his aftercare; later that month he had a successful TECA surgery!

Now, GeeBee is recovering from his surgery like a champion! Our Feline Wellness Manager commented, “his ear looks great, he’s doing well, and seems completely unfazed by the whole ordeal!” We couldn’t be more proud of GeeBee and his accomplishments – now it’s time to find him a forever home!
