Ferguson is a sweet Shepherd mix who needs a little help feeling safe and secure. When he was given to a large family with children and other dogs, the family was told the original guardians would take him back if it did not work with the busy household. The family fosters special-needs children and Ferguson was experiencing increased anxiety in the home. Unfortunately, he could not be returned to his original home, so the family began consulting dog trainers, eventually connecting with our Canine Behavior Team. The family worked with us through our Dog Behavior Programs to learn ways to help Ferguson feel calm and confident, as well as teaching aspects of our Parenting with Pets Program. Ferguson continued to show signs of unease, leading to the difficult decision to re-home him.
It’s clear he was very loved and we look forward to continuing that love during his care with us! He is eager, excited, and already has a Social Butterfly Badge under his belt! Ferguson was born in 2020, making him about 6 years old. He’s quite nervous around cars so we have stuck to trail walks throughout the Sanctuary campus and playtimes with his new doggy friends. We are happy to have Ferguson with us as we get to know him and what home will suit him best!
