Featured Pet – Roxi

Roxinator, Roxi-girl, Rockstar – this little lady has accumulated many nicknames since she’s been with us, but no matter what you call her, Roxi is ready to find her forever family! Smart, energetic, and friendly – there’s never a dull moment with this spunky girl! Roxi loves to run, play fetch, and have a good time with her people friends! She’s looking for a family that she can bond with and look up to for attention, guidance, and lots of love. This rock star also loves learning so it’d be great if she can find someone that will continue her education and training!

She recently graduated from our Family Companions 1.5 class with her favorite staff member Ashley! Ashley kept us updated on how things were going during class: “I just have to brag on my girl Roxi for a minute. She is being an angel in class. When she has her mind in training mode, she is on the mark, showing us a sneak peak of the well-adjusted and well-rounded dog she can be!”

Roxi was found abandoned as a small puppy in a family’s backyard, and when no one claimed her from animal control, they decided to keep her. Unfortunately their son became allergic to her, and they were heartbroken to give her up. That’s when she joined us at the Sanctuary! When she was found as a puppy, Roxi had very bad case of mange and was nearly hairless. Since being with us, her skin has healed significantly, and all her fur has grown back. She will most likely have sensitive skin for the rest of her life, but with a special diet and weekly baths, she has been doing well!

At one and a half years old, Roxi is still full of puppy energy and needs a home where she can get lots of exercise. She would absolutely love a fenced-in yard to run out her zoomies and play fetch! She’ll happily end her days with you on the couch with her favorite Kong chew toy. Experienced dog owners are a must for Miss Roxi, so they can help teach her how to be the best girl she can be. Once you gain her trust, she will be your fun-loving loyal companion.

Roxi should be the only pet in her new home – no cats or other dogs please. She’s looking for a home with dog-savvy adults and possibly teens who will let her be the center of attention!

I love this dog! I will miss spending my days with her when she finds her furever people, but I know there’s a person or two out there who will love her as much as I do!

Roxi has come SO far since her arrival at the Sanctuary. As a regualr volunteer, I am one of those lucky enough to spend a few hours with her each week during “tuck-in” time and I have watched her progress from a pup with mostly zoomies in the house to one who loves to focus and show me all she’s learned, then settle calmly with a Kong, or next to me for a nice belly rub. I adore that sweet face and her happy disposition. She is incredibly smart! I hope she’ll soon have her forever home where she will continue to receive the affection, exercise and learning opportunities that she thrives on and deserves. I’ll miss her!
