Featured Pet: Merlin

This golden boy is ready to spend his golden years with someone special! Merlin is a senior sweetie looking for love and a lap to enjoy the rest of his days! Are you that special someone?

Originally found as a stray, his previous owner cared for Merlin over the course of seven years until he had to move to a nursing facility and could no longer physically take care of Merlin. He was completely heartbroken having to surrender his beloved pet, but luckily Merlin moved to the Sanctuary and received a lot of affection and care! He instantly became a favorite at the Sanctuary and would greet everyone that walked in his room with purrs and affection!

At the age of 11 years old, Merlin has experienced some health issues, but he’s now living comfortably and ready to live his remaining days cuddling with his people. Being an older, experienced gentleman, he is very independent, mellow, and easygoing. Still, you’ll quickly learn that he’s a gentle, mushy guy inside, ready to take his place on your lap at a moment’s notice!

Even on chilly days, you’ll find this laid-back darling outside on his catio, waiting for his friends to come say hello. When inside, his favorite place to be is on his window perch, where he’s still able to take in the great outdoors. Sanctuary staff created a bed with a heating pad on his window perch “throne” so this cool cat can feel warm and toasty next to the window on these cold, fall days. Lately though, he found a new spot that he has claimed as his own- hiding underneath the blankets on the couch in his room! We’ve even had to warn volunteers to check the blankets before sitting down! It’s great to know that even with his older age, Merlin still loves to explore and try out new things!

Merlin has been with Our Companions for over a year and a half, but is looking for a home to call his own! He’s adapted very well to new situations and could live in a home with another low-energy dog or cat.
