When Henry, a blind senior beagle, couldn’t stay in his home anymore, we welcomed him back to the Sanctuary. At Our Companions, we make a lifelong commitment to the people and pets we serve.
With his sweet disposition and irresistible face, Henry was quickly adopted after he first arrived at the Sanctuary. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter he was diagnosed with a rare disease that causes sudden blindness. Unable to accommodate a special-needs pet, Henry’s adopter returned him to the Sanctuary. Despite his condition and advancing age, this charming little boy found another owner who cared for him for four years until the adopter’s own declining health required that he give him up.
At age 12 and completely blind, Henry has once again found himself at the Sanctuary, but he is doing just fine.
Every day, he enjoys the company of doting volunteers who accompany him as he lounges, sunbathes and wanders the Sanctuary grounds, going wherever his nose leads him. Life is a challenge for him, but we’re here to make sure that he is safe, comfortable and loved. Henry might find another home for his final days, but if he doesn’t we will care for him until the end.
With 99% of our funding coming from charitable donations, Henry’s story, and other similar stories which occur every day at Our Companions would not be possible without the support of people like you. Therefore, I hope you will consider making a generous gift to our fall fund drive. Together, we can help even more animals in need like Henry.
On behalf of our staff, volunteers, clients and animals, we thank you from for your commitment to our mission.
