Family Companion 1
Family Companion I
The Family Companion 1 course focuses on the relationship between the owner and the dog. The class covers basic obedience skills and dog behavior. Each week, owners will learn techniques to help them build on their training skills: an introduction to positive reinforcement, refocusing techniques, sits, downs, stays, recalls and a relaxed heel. The class is for dogs 5 months or older. The cost of the eight-session class is $100.00 plus tax. The Family Companion 1 class is offered at a reduced rate to dogs adopted through Our Companions, and to dogs adopted from local municipal animal control shelters.
The safety of Our Companions volunteers and clients is of great importance. Procedures have been developed based upon the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guidelines and Connecticut Governmental Executive Orders to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and clients. Face coverings are required for all clients and trainers inside during all Family Companion 1 classes.
