Background Story:
In exciting news, chinchillas are some of our first guests at Suzanne’s Place! Four chinchilla brothers made their homes at our Sanctuary: Eddie, along with Charly, and bonded pair Yin and Yang. Prior to opening our small animal cottage in July 2024, Our Companions assisted with re-homing six other chinchillas in the same home through our Rehoming Program, all successfully adopted. Now, with our small animal cottage open, the owners reached out again for assistance with four additional chinchillas. We welcomed Charley, Eddie, Yin, and Yang to our Sanctuary in July of 2024.
Eddie was about a year and a half old when he arrived to our Sanctuary. He was quite nervous and shy while transitioning to his new habitat. Charley’s exuberance during his free roam time made Eddie more nervous, so staff rearranged his habitat to make sure he had his own space and felt safe. We have seen amazing success with staff and volunteers bonding with Eddie through quiet activities, daily interactions, and respecting his space. Now, Eddie loves to be held like a baby by his favorite volunteer and never shies away from snuggling with her. Patience and consistency are key with Eddie! We can’t wait to continue seeing more of his personality shine and to find those people who want to snuggle him too!
Adoption Info:
Eddie is a young chinchilla with a heart of gold! His shy demeanor makes it even more special when he comes up to sniff your hand or lets you pet between his ears. With patience and consistency, we have seen Eddie love to be held like a baby and never shies away from snuggling his favorite person. He will thrive in a home with older children and/or adults who are willing to take the time to build trust with him. Born in January 2023, Eddie also has a gorgeous and unique light fur pattern (not albino).
