Dexter

Darling Dexter a.k.a. Decky has the coolest spots and the sweetest face.

Dexter was frequenting a cat hotel because his pet guardian unfortunately fell ill and needed hospitalized care. The kind staff at the hotel suggested he reach out to Our Companions for help since the hospital stays were getting longer and he knew eventually Dexter would need full-time care as well. Estimated to be 16yo, we wanted to make sure Dexter got the right care in his golden years too.

We were able to start the surrender/rehoming process with the previous guardian and the cat hotel as we worked to secure a room at our Sanctuary to take over Decky’s daily care. We were told Dexter did not like other cats, which took us some time to ensure he has his own suite! We were also told during times of stress and/or turmoil, Dexter had history of inappropriate urination outside of the litterbox. We also saw, due to his ear fold, he can be prone to ear infections. So far so good with our new senior star! Dexter was wonderful riding in the car to the Sanctuary and in settling into his new chapter quite easily! We started a limited diet to see if that helps his ear infections and we haven’t seen anything off with his litterbox habits either! Even at his older age, Dexter seems to have transitioned quite well and already wants to explore more of the cottage! We’re so grateful to be a part of Dexter’s next chapter and help this boy feel loved and cherished during his time with us! Welcome Dexter!
