Background Story:

Dante deserves the warmest of welcomes. Dante was found as an injured stray cat by a Good Samaritan and brought to a local animal shelter. At the shelter, they discovered that he had serious wounds inflicted on his legs and amputation was being considered. Given his current condition and the potential need for extensive medical treatment, Our Companions was contacted to continue his care. He appears to be a very young cat as well, estimated to be around 1 year old when we took responsibility for Dante’s care. We believe he was born sometime in the Spring of 2024.

Despite his extensive injuries, Dante seems to be getting around pretty well and has proved to be sweet as pie; showering our staff with lots of affection! He’s been known to flop on your lap for snuggles and pets not long after meeting a new friend. His personality will make you pause in gratitude after all this little guy has been through.

Dante came to the Sanctuary with some medical care for his legs, started at the municipal shelter. He was not with us long before one of his abscesses opened and we rushed him to the vet. During his examination, the vet was impressed with how strong and advantageous he seemed with his healing abilities! Other than his infections, his wounds are stable. They recommend we continue providing medical care for his injuries and observe his healing process before deciding on amputation. Lucky for us and for Dante, our holistic approach worked out and Dante now uses all four legs to get around!  Dante is doing some light physical therapy with staff to encourage the continued used of his legs, and he recently came off all his pain medications! Dante LOVES to walk around on his harness and makes friends with everyone he meets. Through it all, Dante has stayed his snuggly, cuddly, cute self with us and we are so grateful to continue to help him be the best he can be.
