You know Dasher and Dancer, Prancer and Vixen, Comet and…. Cosmo, Draco and Merlin!

We aren’t singing around reindeer, instead a group of rescued rats! We were contacted in conjunction with other rescues to assist with a 300 rat hoarding situation and were eager to offer what space we had. We welcomed 4 all white boys to our Sanctuary in January 2026, with their ages truly being unknown due to their previous environment.

We named the boys Cosmo, Comet, Merlin, and Draco – but to be honest it was really hard to tell the shy guys apart! Socializing with compassionate people was also new for them so we have been giving them space and taking our time to get to know their personalities. Until then, we have pet-safe food coloring dots on each boy so we can tell them apart! They are often snuggled in a corner as they are nervous but continue to take big strides in learning they can trust us and are safe.  

We can’t imagine what these boys have been through during their lives, but we’re so thankful they are now with us and will be receiving the best care from our team. We look forward to helping them feel more comfortable with us during their stay and getting to know each of their beautiful personalities. We are not sure if they will we bonded together or may need to adjust their habitats as they decompress – more to come on these beautiful boys and their journey!
