Blood Drive Update 2021

Susan

Our third annual Blood Drive marks three years of Marie, OC’s Canine Director, being cancer-free! During Marie’s cancer treatment, she received life-saving blood transfusions that greatly attributed to her recovery. Our OC family was eternally grateful to those who donated blood to help Marie receive the treatment she needed. Now to give back, every year OC holds a blood drive to continue the great efforts of collecting this crucial resource!

This year’s event was a little different! To thank those that participated, Marie announced that she will donate $200 to Our Companions for every person who signed up to give blood! How amazing! On top of that generous offer, we even welcomed a few professional pals to help with those who donated while they were giving blood and resting afterwards. Pet therapy dogs Seneca and Bo made their rounds to both donors and staff to make sure everyone was in good spirits and to help calm any nervousness or jitters!

They even had some back up from Jason and Cash! The event was full of happiness, gratitude, and of course, lots of pets! What a great day at OC!

We are very happy to announce that 58 people attended the drive, including many walk-ins that saw our signs and wanted to help support this great cause! In total over 50 units of blood were collected, ensuring another successful blood drive! A big thank you to everyone that donated, to our staff and volunteers that helped with the event, the Red Cross for all of their hard work, and last but not least, our beautiful furry friends that helped put a smile on everyone’s face!
