The second and third phase of the building plans will constitute the construction of the animal living facilities. Our Companions will care for cats, dogs, and small domestic animals such as rodents, guinea pigs, rabbits and domestic caged birds. Most importantly, at our future facility, animals requiring special care due to injury or abuse will be rehabilitated, not destroyed. Animals too damaged from past abuse and unadoptable will live permanently at Our Companions. |
Our
Companions has worked with the architects of Kaestle
Boos Associates to construct building plans for the animal
habitats. The sanctuary will be developed in the style of a quaint
New England village having several small, species-specific houses.
This method of housing animals differs from standard animal shelters
by providing much larger living spaces and exercise areas. As a
result, the number of animals per square foot will be significantly
less than at a typical shelter. The animals standard of living
is greatly improved, thereby improving their health and welfare.
