Six Questions: Lynda Thornton

What is your occupation? I worked in sports marketing for over 18 years with the Hartford Whalers and then the Civic Center when Madison Square Garden managed the sports teams in Hartford.

How long have you been volunteering? For a couple years.  I started with Canine College and distributing posters for available animals.  More recently, I've been working on creating some of the posters and doing photography for special events if needed, and also helping out at adoption events as a dog handler.

How did you become involved in volunteering for Our Companions? I was introduced to OC by Gretchen LaBau, who was on the Board of Directors, and who mentioned the various volunteer opportunities.

What surprised you the most about volunteering for Our Companions? Tthe amount of effort and time that OC takes to try to match the right animals to the right people for adoptions.  And the free training that is offered to all OC dogs that get adopted.

What is the name and breed of your pet? Currently I have Greta, a lab/golden mix. 

What is your favorite thing about Our Companions? Meeting so many people who care so deeply for their own pets, and who want to be able to help those that are in need of a loving home.
