Our Companions Honor/Memorial Gifts 2009

What’s the best way to show sympathy for the death of a beloved pet, family member, or friend? Flowers are a wonderful, inspiring symbol of the cycle of life and death, cheering and moving at a funeral, but they’re ephemeral, and we have the urge to remember someone in a more permanent way.

What gift really says what we’re thinking about birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or any other joyful occasion? Do we want to fill others’ lives with more stuff that we’re not sure that they really want? More people choose a different way: making a donation to a charity you care about, in honor of the occasion, giving both the giver and receiver a sense of the event’s making a more lasting mark.
