Our Companions Mission

Our Companions Domestic Animal Sanctuary's mission is to lead a humane movement to protect and advocate for the lives of companion animals. We will accomplish our mission by offering innovative, life-saving programs including creating a sanctuary to rescue those who would otherwise be destroyed. We will also collaborate with the animal welfare community to affect public policy, ensuring that every animal's life is valued.

The condition of animal welfare in Connecticut is surprisingly primitive. Currently, healthy, adoptable pets are euthanized on a daily basis in Connecticut's animal shelters. This problem not only harms innocent animals, but also has a numbing effect on our community.

Our Companions Domestic Animal Sanctuary has researched other states that have nearly achieved a 0% euthanasia rate among healthy, adoptable pets and has identified the keys to their success.

Through this analysis Our Companions Domestic Animal Sanctuary has created a three-part mission to directly target the root causes of pet homelessness in an effort to make Connecticut a state where no healthy pets are destroyed.
