Our Companions Mission

  1. Creating a sanctuary that will care for domestic animals facing the prospect of euthanasia.
  2. Offer low-cost pet behavioral services that are needed for the community.
  3. Initiating service-based partnerships with other animal welfare organizations to create programs that address the root causes of pet homelessness.

Animal Welfare in Connecticut

The condition of animal welfare in Connecticut is surprisingly primitive. Currently, healthy, adoptable pets are euthanized on a daily basis in Connecticut's animal shelters. This problem not only harms innocent animals, but also has a numbing effect on our community.

Our Companions Domestic Animal Sanctuary has researched other states that have nearly achieved a 0% euthanasia rate among healthy, adoptable pets and has identified the keys to their success.

Through this analysis Our Companions Domestic Animal Sanctuary has created a three-part mission to directly target the root causes of pet homelessness in an effort to make Connecticut a state where no healthy pets are destroyed.
