What is the Animal Welfare Federation of Connecticut?

After researching animal welfare practices across the country, the founders of Our Companions recognized that the communities that had successfully lowered their euthanasia rate all had one thing in common; a strong, united partnership among the animal welfare community.

Clearly, there is strength in numbers.  Accordingly, the goal of creating a Connecticut animal welfare partnership became a centerpiece of Our Companions' mission.  In 2004, Our Companions was involved in the creation of the Animal Welfare Federation of Connecticut (The Federation).  The Federation, a partnership of animal welfare advocates, is dedicated to improving the status and well-being of companion animals.

The Federation recognizes that no single organization can remedy all the logistical, social and economic problems facing companion animals in our state. By working together, we believe we can make a considerable difference in improving the standard of care for companion animals in Connecticut.
